The Institute for Optoelectronic Systems and Microtechnology (www.isom.upm.es) at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ISOM-UPM), a leading Spanish research facility in optoelectronics, is offering a position for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a groundbreaking European Research Council–funded project.

The project, entitled “Quantum-engineered lattice-matched III-V-on-Si multijunction solar cells (MIRACLE, 101087086, ERC-CoG)”, focuses on the development of III-V tandem solar cells on silicon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the epitaxy, processing, and characterization of III-V compound semiconductors on silicon, with the goal of achieving pseudomorphic integration of III-V solar cells on silicon—an essential milestone toward highly efficient and cost-effective photovoltaic devices for terrestrial applications.

The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Grow nanostructures and solar cells using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).
  • Process the grown materials into complete solar cell devices.
  • Carry out performance testing at ISOM-UPM.

Research activities will be conducted primarily at ISOM-UPM, in close collaboration with national and international partners who will provide access to advanced simulation and characterization facilities not available at the host institution.
